Blessings and things that make me smile

So, once again, I am late in posting for Gretchen's blessings party.  I also missed posting last week.  It's not that I haven't spent time thinking about how I am blessed.  Gretchen's idea of starting every week by counting our blessings does cause me to spend more time throughout the week noting the multitude of blessings in my life.  It's just that things get busy and life happens, and pretty soon I realize that I never took the time to type something up.  So, here is a little bit of catching up.

Saturday, October 22, Randy and I had the blessing of being a part of the wedding of my brother, Adam, and new sister, Jodi.  It was a really fun weekend full of spent celebrating with family and friends!  The kids also had a wonderful time playing with cousins, and other than some sleep issues with Abby at the hotel, everyone did a terrific job!

I am blessed that harvest was finished so early, which meant a lot less stress for the wedding, and also meant that Randy was able to come trick-or-treating with the kids and I.  I would have to say that more years than not, Randy has made the time to go with us, even if they were still working in the fields.  I love that!  There have been a couple of autumns where the weather was bad and things were very behind, and he just wasn't able to come, but that has really been the exception.  It is really fun to be able to go out and celebrate as a family, and I know that it is so important to the kids. :)  I am also very blessed that the kids did so well, despite Abby and Michael being tired and having a little cold.  We did have a lot of fun. :)

I also enjoy the crazy and funny things that the kids say and do.  For example, Abby is always a source of entertainment.  The other night when we were praying before bed, I asked the kids what they wanted to thank God for.  Without hesitation, Abby said, "The Bible!"  How often to we forget to thank God for His Word?  I know that I don't thank Him for that nearly as often as I should.  Last night, Timothy had a little bit of an upset tummy for a little while, and Abby stayed with him.  She took out her container of "hair pretties" and kept trying to hand them to her "handsome sister."  Then she told Timothy that he was her cute cousin.  When Timothy tried to explain to her that he is her brother, she said, "Oh, right!  I'm your brother!"  She'll get it figured out. :)  Then this morning, it became obvious just how overtired she is.  Don't get me wrong, she is doing a remarkable job for as little napping as she has done in the past several days!  But still, you can tell she's tired.  This morning, she was playing with a Barbie, otherwise known as "Barb".  (She has a baby doll named Babe, a puppy named Pup, and a kitty named Kit, also.)  Anyway, Barb was not being very cooperative for her, and finally Abby came to me and said, "Mom, Barb is annoying me!"  I can see where that would make for a difficult time. :)  These four little blessings from God make me smile every single day, and they are definitely something to be thankful for!
